Air Brush Spray Tanning Preparation
Careful preparation of your skin is essential for the best, even looking tan. Exfoliating a few hours prior to your session but not just before is the most important step to prepare for a spray tan. Particular attention needs be given to any dry areas of the body such as your knees, elbows and ankles. Moisturizing these areas a few days before you come in will help to produce a better looking more natural tan.
Do not apply lotions or perfumes prior to tanning. Use deodorant very sparingly. You should shave the day before you tan. Remove make-up and jewelry before the tanning process to avoid blocking the spray mist.
Please come with your hair pulled back off your face and neck. Bring a towel to cover leather or light colored seats, if leaving in shorts.
If it is raining, bring an umbrella!
What to Expect During a Tanning Session
If this is your first visit at our salon, we will ask that you fill out a short intake form, providing Summer Breeze Tanning with your contact information.
You will then be escorted to your room and then the technician will step out to provide privacy while you undress. What you wear or choose not to wear is your choice. Our clients have worn bathing suits, pasties, underwear, disposable underwear, a thong or have opted for no tan lines and gone topless. At a minimum, our clients must wear a thong or under garment to cover the genitals. The choice depends on your comfort level.
The spray session will take 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
Loose, dark clothes should be worn after tanning as the solution may stain clothes if not completely dry. Any color that does rub off on clothing usually washes out. However, please wear clothes that you do not mind the possibility of staining and plan on NOT wearing a bra when you leave.
After Tan Care
Immediately after your spray tanning session avoid activities that may cause you to sweat to avoid streaking of the cosmetic bronzer. Watch out for licking pets or drinking from a cup or glass.
Our cosmetic bronzer solution provides an instant radiant tan while the active ingredient DHA continues to develop over the next 4 to 8 hours. It is advisable not to bath or shower for 8 hours after a spray tanning session. When you shower, the water will run red-brown. This is the bronzer being washed off, revealing a great, natural looking tan that your own skin developed underneath.
Moisturizing is recommended for daily skin care and will help to prolong the tan.
Do not rub skin with your towel. Pat dry and apply a moisturizer after your shower. This will lock more moisture into your skin.
Apply a moisturizer twice every day on days you will not be Air Brush Tanning. Body Butters and Creams can be used. Avoid lotions with mineral oil in the top four (4) ingredients. Good skin moisture is essential!
Avoid exfoliating skin. Some products can cause faster fading such as bar soaps, alcohol-based products such as toners and astringents, products that cause exfoliation such as AHAs, BHAs, Retin-A etc.
